2018 World Marathon Challenge

The team of 32 students (15 Girls and 15 Boys) ages 12 and 13, battled the elements in an attempt to collectively beat the new Men’s World Marathon Record of 2:01:39, set by Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge on September 16, 2018 at the Berlin Marathon.

The marathon distance of 42.195 kilometres is divided into 210m x 200m sections. An additional 195m section is run to start the relay. Each student was given a number from 1 to 32 and each ran a total of 6 x 200m in a relay format, passing a baton until the marathon distance was completed
